Outreach & Community Presence project team (m/f/d/*)
Place of work: Chemnitz (20 hours/week, from 1.05.2026)
Offener Prozess gGmbH runs the first documentation center on the NSU complex in Chemnitz.
We see ourselves as a place of education, remembrance and debate about right-wing extremist movements with a focus on the investigation of the NSU complex in Germany. Our aim is to focus on the perspectives of those affected, to demand social responsibility and to bring about political and civic change.
In 2026, the documentation center on the NSU complex is to be established as a regional and national place of discourse, take up current social debates, offer them a space and derive measures for society from them.
We are a team of people with different biographical backgrounds, experiences and origins. This diversity enriches our work, enables new perspectives and strengthens respectful, open interaction with one another. We look forward to you enriching our team!
Areas of responsibility:
– Low-threshold advice & initial contact: You receive people who are specifically referred to the Assembly by partner organizations. You offer space for initial discussions and see active listening as the basis for needs-oriented support.
– Navigating through support structures: You act as an interface and guide. You identify the concerns of those seeking advice and direct them to the appropriate internal structures of the documentation center or external specialist offices.
– Networking & outreach: You maintain contact with migrant self-organizations, youth centers and other partners. By actively approaching them, you reduce fears and strengthen the visibility of the Assembly in urban society. This means, for example, that you represent the documentation center at network meetings and events.
– Communication interface: In close cooperation with the public relations department, you will maintain our channels (e.g. WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram).
You prepare information for specific target groups in order to reach our communities directly and effectively. You will also be responsible for developing your own content and strategies to reach different target groups.
Requirements:
– Presence & welcoming culture: You are the first point of contact on site and create an anti-discriminatory atmosphere in which visitors feel safe and welcome.
– Communication skills: Experience in conducting discussions with different target groups and the ability to communicate complex topics (anti-racism, NSU complex) empathetically and confidently.
– Local networking: Ideally, you are already part of existing structures in Chemnitz and have established relationships with local migrant associations, initiatives and networks.
– Discrimination-critical awareness: A deep understanding of the realities of life for people with a migration biography and a power-critical way of working.
– Qualifications: A degree from a (specialist) university (e.g. social work, cultural management) is desirable. We appreciate relevant
professional experience or skills from community work/self-organization as an equivalent qualification.
– Willingness to work flexible hours (e.g. evening and weekend events)
– Language skills: Good knowledge of German (B2). Other languages (e.g. Arabic, English, Farsi, Russian, Turkish) are expressly desired due to the target group orientation.
Wir bieten:
– A responsible, executive position with leeway in the methodical design of outreach.
– A thorough induction to familiarize you with the approaches and values of Assembly.
– Integration into a reflective, interdisciplinary team.
– 30 days vacation for 40 hours/week, flexible working hours and opportunities for further training.
– a fair salary, based on TV-L E 9
