Information for Teachers: Open Process—a documentation center on the NSU complex is now a recognized site for learning, remembrance, and commemoration
An Ongoing Process – A Documentation Center on the NSU Complex was officially added to the database of the State Service Center for Places of Remembrance and Commemoration in June 2026.
For teachers and their classes in grade 8 and above at schools in Saxony, this means that after a visit, up to 500 € can be reimbursed for travel and program costs. The application must be submitted no later than one week before the visit. The process is handled directly through the service office.
“Open Process—A Documentation Center on the NSU Complex” is a place of remembrance and education that amplifies the perspectives of those affected and critically examines the history of the NSU complex. It keeps alive the memory of those murdered by the right-wing terrorists of the so-called “National Socialist Underground” (NSU) and works to promote social cohesion.
For students, the Open Process offers a wide range of educational formats—from exhibition tours to interactive group activities. As an extracurricular learning space, it encourages students to engage with the NSU complex and its repercussions, which continue to this day. Topics such as discrimination and structural racism are addressed, as are questions of memory, democracy, and social responsibility.
